My name is Kerrie and I’m a 38 year old single mum of four children. I have an inoperable Grade 2 brainstem tumour.

I was diagnosed almost 10 years ago and was relieved more than anything else, I knew there was something wrong but nobody seemed to listen. Obviously relief turned to anxiety once I was told it is inoperable due to the site of the tumour.

I don’t let my tumour define me and try to live life as best as I can. I have too many symptoms to list and face small struggles everyday but don’t let that stop me.

I work 4 days a week and have just started up a mobile massage business which is challenging in itself as I have limited use and feeling in the right side of my body.

As I don’t have a partner, it’s difficult not getting the emotional support I sometimes need. For the moment I don’t need a carer and am grateful for my independence. I’m very focused on eating a healthy diet and exercising, which I believe is the reason for the tumours extremely slow growth.

I just take each day as it comes and try to be as positive as I can.
