Lucy O’Brien
Community Brain Cancer Navigator
With extensive experience in human services, Lucy has worked across a range of community sectors including health, justice, and addiction support. She is formally qualified in human services and is currently completing postgraduate studies in psychology. Her background includes serving as a welfare officer in paediatric oncology, where she supported families with financial, practical, and emotional care during some of their most challenging moments.
Outside of her professional life, Lucy enjoys playing music as a vocalist and guitarist in a local band, staying active through touch football, and deepening her knowledge through ongoing psychology study. She also values meditation and mindfulness, spending time in nature through hiking and birdwatching, and exploring sound healing and holistic therapy under the guidance of a mentor.
Lucy’s desire is to walk alongside individuals and families during their hardest moments after her work at the Queensland Children’s Hospital. This experience shaped her belief that no one should have to face hardship alone.
