National Advocacy Service Client Support Specialist

Melanie brings over 17 years of dedicated experience in palliative care and oncology nursing, with a deep commitment to supporting individuals and communities through some of life’s most vulnerable and meaningful moments. Her career has been grounded in the belief that compassionate, person-centered care can transform end-of-life experiences—not just for patients, but for families, caregivers, and communities as well.

Throughout her career, Melanie has embraced roles that reflect this commitment, including serving as a nurse educator with a focus on building compassionate communities. She most recently managed the Barwon Health Palliative Care program, where she led with empathy, collaboration, and a deep respect for the dignity of every individual.

Since 2015, Melanie has volunteered with Peace of Mind Foundation, contributing to its mission of supporting those affected by brain cancer. From assisting with retreats to serving as Board Chair for three years, this work remains close to her heart and aligns with her passion for community-driven support.

In 2024, Melanie embarked on a six-month road trip around Australia with her husband, Geoff, and their much-loved Murray River Retriever, Eddie—a journey that offered space for reflection, connection, and adventure. She is also a proud mum to Angus and Remy, who inspire her daily as they take on adult life.

Whether at work, in the community, or on the road, Melanie strives to lead with compassion, presence, and purpose.
